Auberge du Point Sublime, in the Gorges du Verdon, who we are ?

For 3 generations, the Auberge du Point Sublime is our home before being our tool.
We welcome you in our typically Provencal family hostel in a simple, comfortable hotel room in a bed and breakfast environment.
We put our experience and our passion of the Gorges du Verdon at your service. We are here to accompany you during your stay in this magnificent site that is the Natural Regional Park of Verdon.

Our team in the kitchen prepares dishes that will delight your taste buds.
Many local products in short circuits identified on our menus by the « Pays Gourmand » logo. But not only… The title « Maître Restaurateur » is the guarantee of homemade and the quality of our know-how.
We offer authentic cuisine with the scents of Provence.
My grandparents, Madame and Monsieur Monier Solange and André, settled here in 1946. My grandfather fell in love with both the territory of Verdon and my grandmother from Palud sur Verdon. Their fixed idea was to be able to settle down and create an activity because for them the confidential and secret Verdon of the time had a future and potential. André welcomes customers, he edits photos which will become postcards. He wrote one of the first guides as well as a map of the gorges which he sent at the time to numerous houses in France abroad at his own expense. His way of advertising our house and the territory at the time.
Solange cooks, serves, takes care of the family always with discretion but efficiency and above all great tenderness… Their children, Jeanne, Renée and France live there. Jeanne, wife Jeannot, they will run the family bakery of La Palud sur Verdon practically all their lives. My uncle Jeannot diversified his activity by becoming the first taxi, but above all « the taxi storyteller » (some of them, written by my aunt) known and recognized beyond the borders of Verdon.
Renée, my mother married my father Ferruccio who came from Italy with cousins, brothers, friends to earn a living. They will marry the most beautiful girls in the country and settle for life in our mountains which will become theirs. All these Italian builders will start by working on the Castillon dam, then on the construction of the first lookouts on the Route des Crêtes. The first climbers of the Verdon before the practice of climbing developed on the cliffs of the Verdon. But not only…
At the time, there was no « Classified Site », no « Natura 2000 » area… When four cents came into the coffers, my grandparents asked the Mayor for authorization to expand. This is how a small inn in 1946 consisting of a bar, a small kitchen, a hall and three bedrooms became what it is today thanks to the hands and sweat of my father, my uncles and cousins, masons, tilers, roofers… My mother Renée, recently retired from the civil service, and my father moved in with my grandparents in 1965, when I was not yet a year old. They will have since and for the rest of their lives worked on the smooth running of the family business but also on its transmission.

My aunt France, who has Down syndrome who has always lived near us, has been fully part of the history of our house but above all of our hearts. The whole family worked for this house, Bernard Cauvin my cousin, Marie Claire my sister, her husband Roméo, my mother’s best friend Francette who practiced all generations… If you have been following along, I am the third generation, my name is Magali. I met my husband Philippe here at the inn, who arrived in 1980 to do a season as a cook, he never left… Like my grandfather, he fell in love with the granddaughter of the house and the Verdon, which today has become his adopted land and his playground for photographing fauna, flora and landscapes. The fourth generation is on the way because we have two big boys, Aurélien and Simon who are very attached to our house.
Simon and his partner Kah Yern work with us. They think about the future, to follow… Today and for years (more than 15) Philippe’s brothers, Olivier and Xavier have joined our team. We thank them, as we thank all our collaborators who are loyal to us. All those who have succeeded one another, who have left us with more or less happy memories. Those who come back or wait for others to retire to replace them and remain loyal to us in turn. Without them nothing is possible!!!
There you go, I just wanted to write a few lines to try to make you feel the DNA of our inn, but how can I summarize three generations in a few lines. I could write a book… To finish I will end with this sentence: The Auberge du Point Sublime is our home before being our work tool Welcome to our home.
